Hello all. Our school year is now in full swing with Christmas fast approaching. Since our last newsletter a lot has taken place in our school. Below are some of the highlights.
We were delighted to receive the good news from the Dept. of Education recently of attaining developing post status and so can now appoint an extra class teacher. This means that our Infant Classes will be separated with a full time teacher in both and gives those pupils a great start.
Girl’s Gaelic Football:
Congratulations and well done to all our girls who represented our school recently in the schools Gaelic Football Co. Final in Littleton. In atrocious conditions, they played their hearts out and we are very proud of their performances on the day and indeed throughout the competition.
Rugby is ongoing from 3rd class up with teams taking part in a blitz in Nenagh in January.
All pupils took part in a variety of activities for Maths Week.
As you are already aware our school choir will be participating in Peace Proms in March 2017 in the UL Arena so practising is in full swing presently. We would appreciate the co-operation of children and parents alike in making sure that words and actions are learned as required week by week.
This year the school will stage a Christmas Show with Stephanie Browne as Director and it will be performed for two nights in the Scouts Hall in Nenagh on December 19th and 20th. Junior Infants to 2nd Class will perform “The Ugly Duckling” and 3rd to 6th will perform “Matilda”. More information will follow later.
Shoe Box Appeal:
We are delighted to announce that over 50 shoe boxes were collected for this worthy cause. This helps to develop an awareness in children of how important it is to reach out to and help those less fortunate.
The children will be attending mass in the church on Thursday, December 8th at 11.00am. All are welcome to attend.
We would like to congratulate Ms Anne-Marie Ryan on her permanent appointment to our teaching staff and hope she will be very happy here in Youghalarra N.S. The appointment of a temporary teacher is currently in progress and will be completed shortly.
